See you in January!

Hello Beautiful Beings!

We have learned that for many of you, committing to a series during the holiday season is not so easy! We had an overwhelming response from so many telling us you wanted to come to the series but just couldn't make it with the business of the holiday season.

So! We made the decision to move "Diet for our Species" Workshop III to January - the month of new beginnings :) This series will be 4 classes instead of 6, a shorter format this time to mix it up a bit.

These four classes are all about choosing foods that are for the highest good for our physical, spiritual and emotional health. When we are vibrating with health and vitality, we can do anything! We want to share this with you, so we hope you can join us for the adventure :)

Here's the lineup:

January 10 - Are you on acid? The Acid / Alkaline Connection
After the overconsumption of sugars, fats and flour, many of us are in an overly acidic state. An acidic inner ecology (low pH levels) creates toxic and acidic waste (acidosis) to build up in our Earth Suit. Because acidosis is so overlooked by main stream medicine many suffer needlessly. Cancer, heart disease, auto-immune problems, osteoporosis, low energy, unwanted weight gain, yeast infections, arthritis, poor athletic performance and premature aging, inflammation and auto-immune disorders are caused when your Holy Temple is on Acid, so to speak. Sugar is the worst culprit.
In this class discover vibrant, living foods and beverages that neutralize an acidic environment. It’s been scientifically proven that cancer cells cannot grow in an alkaline environment. Learn what foods like sugar, create an imbalance in your pH and how to replace them with other living foods.

January 17 - Raising Healthy kids. You are what you eat – are you raising a ding dong?
America’s children are eating poorly, exercising less, and getting bigger; 18.3% of young Americans are obese. The good news? Independent market research firm Harris Interactive research showed that 3% of Americans ages 8 to 18 are vegetarians — meaning they do not eat meat, poultry or fish but may consume eggs and dairy.
Some kids are becoming vegan and haven’t a clue what to do and their health suffers. Others are just eating the SAD (Standard American Diet) and their health is suffering. Join us as we create 4 delicious kid-friendly dishes that are so easy your children can get involved and so yummy they will ask for more!

January 24 - Scrape off the spackle, true Beauty Comes from Within
You can use all the spackle on earth, but the most honest beauty is a result of what you place into your Holy Temple. Everything you place into your often indiscriminate mouth leaves either a good or bad mark. Garbage in-garbage out. Not to mention the patina of toxic chemicals we slather on through our cosmetics and skin care that are contributing to the waste dump we are creating inside our bodies.

Learn the basics of eating for natural beauty and how to get the healthy glow with our delicious plant based recipes!

January 31 - Building Immunity – its not too soon to get immune
Just as you would your home, do you winterize your body?
Immunity, our internal mercenary, is eager to take on any task. It’s our earth suit’s Department of Defense. The physician within provides us protection from internal hazards such as cancerous cells, arteriosclerotic plaque, cholesterol deposits and free radicals. Food is its fuel, so quality is vital. That’s what we’ll focus upon.
The flu generally peaks just before, during and after the stress of the holidays, after a self-inflicted drubbing from copious glassfuls of alcohol, gravy, buttery/sugary treats, gluttony, second-hand smoke and lack of sleep. We get swept up in the sweet, addictive emotion of the holidays, turning a blind eye to the healer within, not to mention future consequences.

Learn how to build your immunity with a plant based diet, herbs and simple activities like meditation and yoga.

We hope you can join us in January for this fun, informative and transformative series. Stay tuned for a list of vendors that will be contributing prizes for our series.

As always, we want to give a shout out to Good Earth Natural Foods who will again be our sponsor for the series. If you haven't been there lately, please go visit and say hello. They have such an amazing collection of herbs, organic produce, seaweeds and so very much more. We love you Good Earth!

Happy Holidays from the Food Bliss Crew!!

Food Bliss III Coming November 1st!

Summer is officially gone and oh what a summer it has been. We've been learning, relaxing, working and prepping for our upcoming series!

Audrey went away for a while to study with herbalist Susan Weed in Woodstock New York and is excited to share some of what she learned in the upcoming series. She is soon headed to give a retreat in Barbados during the month of October and will be returning nice and tan to kick off the series!

Wendell had a very successful knee surgery. The doctors and nurses are AMAZED at his speedy recovery. Wendell attributes this success to eating nutrient dense foods and keeping his diet pure and clean along with daily exercise.

Wendell will soon be revealing his newest book as well, Earth Suit Maintenance Guide:
Dietary Literacy and Vegan Recipes for the Nutritionally Challenged
. Stay tuned for details on the book and where you can find it!

Now for the line up of classes. We are so excited about this, friends. We'll be squeezing as much as we possibly can into this series - chock full of new recipes, new local vendors and of course, lots of awesome prize giveaways for each class!

November 1 - Are you on acid? The Acid / Alkaline Connection
In this class discover vibrant, plant based foods and beverages that neutralize an acidic environment. It’s been scientifically proven that cancer cells cannot grow in an alkaline environment. Learn what foods like sugar, create an imbalance in your pH and how to replace them with other nutrient dense foods.

November 8 - Raising Healthy kids.
Could you identify nutritional deficiencies in your children’s food choices?

November 15 - Scrape off the spackle, true Beauty Comes from Within
You can use all the spackle on earth, but the most honest beauty is a result of what you place into your Holy Temple. Everything you place into your often indiscriminate mouth leaves either a good or bad mark. Garbage in-garbage out.
Learn to use the Mother Nature’s cosmetic section to chip away the patina of toxic chemicals and rendered animal parts used in the cosmetic. Unleash your natural beauty.

November 22 - Healthy Holidays – Put down the gravy boat and step away
Ugh. The holidays are just around the corner and the “I won’t take ‘no’ for an answer,’ gorging season begins. Seems during holidays we lose all resolve and cave to six of Aunt Mary Ruth’s creamy Buckeyes and 2 slices of Grandmas’ Pecan Pie drowning in corn syrup and Cool Whip.
We’re human and tend to cheat on special occasions. However, there are ways to lighten up your holiday favorites and =no one will be able to tell the difference. We will take Holiday standards, use alternate ingredients, so your family can still enjoy their traditions.

November 29 - Season Fall Food Fare – Pumpkins, gourds and apples, Oh My!
Are you a locavore? Sooner than later, Hoosiers need to eat with the seasons and support the local community resources for bread, honey, cheese, wine, fermented foods, mushrooms, and canned foods or whatever goods are coming in from the family farmers and artisans.
The carbon footprint and exorbitant costs of fresh foods shipped from 2000 miles away will raise the cost of food so high we’ll be forced to return to a Pre-industrial revolution mentality and eat and store what’s available each season. So, let’s return to the olden times and visit the future of food.
What you eat becomes a physical part of you; who you are. Your body will reward you with glowing health, wealth, and joy.

December 6 - Building Immunity – its not too soon to get immune
Just as you would your home, do you winterize your clan?
Immunity, our internal mercenary, is eager to take on any task. It’s our earth suit’s Department of Defense. The physician within provides us protection from internal hazards such as cancerous cells, arteriosclerotic plaque, cholesterol deposits and free radicals. Food is its fuel, so quality is vital. That’s what we’ll focus upon.

So, there it is folks, our upcoming schedule. We would love to have you join us and as always, space is limited!

Blissful Blessings to you!

Cancer, The C Word Recap & The Economics of Wellbeing on deck

Once again, we packed the house at our "C" Word class on Tuesday. We went deep into the depths of the packaged food industry and why processed food is void of any value to the body and our health. We are amazed at the numerous packaged food companies that are slithering cancer-causing GMO, MSG, food colorings and lab created flavors into products they label as "healthy and natural".

Well, our audience on Tuesday night is no longer in the dark - we shined a bright light on these so called "foods" and the havoc they cause in our bodies.

Of course, we ended with the good news - we can heal our bodies with fresh, organic, nutrient rich foods!

Audrey's Mango Avo Wraps with Creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce was served with her Amazing Cheezy Curry Kale Chips...yummmm....

Wendell rocked the house with his Veggies and Buenos No Cheese Sauce and delish Avocado Ruben with Raw Kraut...wow....

And we ended the night as always with tons of awesome prizes from our amazing local artisans:

Natural Born Juicers gift certificate for organic raw juice and smoothies
Raw Gourmet Delights flax almond crackers
Fields of Agape organic ground corn
Sophia Organic worm castings
Hoosier Momma Bloody Mary Mix
Peace Leaf Tea
Fermenti Artisan fermented foods

On Deck: The Economics of Wellbeing

Eating for your health does not have to cause you to mortgage your home. A healthy body saves you time and money!

You can fuel your temple with amazing vibrant foods for a few dollars a day. We'll be giving you some tricks and tips and send you on your way to a budget-friendly and healthy eating lifestyle.

We will have special guests from Sophia Organic (worm poo for your garden), Hobbit Gardens (organic potted and fresh herbs) and U-Relish (gluten free slow cooker meals) to talk about and sell their amazing local products after class as well.

Menu:
White Bean Marsala Slow Cooker Soup with fresh veggies and herbs
Walnut Cherry Quinoa Pilaf
Seaweed Sunflower Basil Pate
Dairy-free Chocolate Banana Ice Cream

With each recipe, you will get at least three other uses for the dish, so you're really getting 12+ meal ideas in just 2 hours :)

Looking forward to seeing you there!

When you here the word allergies, what comes to mind? Sneezing, runny nose and red itchy eyes?

These are actually the more mild affects of the allergens that are in much of our packaged and processed, GMO foods.

Excitement and pure glee bubbles inside as we anticipate our second series. Coming May 3, Food Bliss II begins with our first of six classes - Wooo Hooo! This series is focusing on food as medicine. We believe that everything we need to allow our bodies to heal and thrive are all around us in the form of food, whether it be veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs, grains or sea veggies.

This series we will have even more free prizes and fun give aways - yay!

So, check out our line up and sign up soon, as seats are limited!

May 3 - Allergen Awareness Join us for AA. Allergens are more than just ragweed or cat hair. It could be lurking in your favorite foods. Allergens are known to cause skin irritations, acne, bowel disorders, chronic fatigue and worse. Join us as we shed a light on common environmental, food and household allergens.

May 10 - The "C" Word No one wants to talk about it, but it’s a topic that needs to be addressed. 247/365 we’re bombarded by carcinogens. Prevention is the best strategy. By eating from the universal “farm”acy, you can provide your body the ability to heal itself and make it an un-hospitable host to cancer and other chronic diseases. It’s our birthright to be healthy!

May 17 - Economics of Well-being We’re busting this common myth. “It’s too expensive to eat healthy”. Grab your slow cooker, get ready to learn the basics of bulk cooking, prep tips, smart shopping and how to stretch your grocery dollar. We’re not talking Ramen Noodles, folks, you can eat healthy on budget and still enjoy full flavored satisfying food.

May 24 - Gluten Free Living – One out of 100 people in America have Celiac Disease and 97% don’t even know they have it. Free yourself from the affects of gluten. You may not even know that what you are consuming every day can cause depression, early osteoporosis, belly pooch syndrome and a host of bowel issues. Join us as we talk about the myriad of benefits of going gluten free. You never know how good you can feel until you try.

May 31 - Diabesity (Diabetes, Obesity and Heart Disease) – It’s not your fault. The standard American diet has failed us. Heart disease is the # 1 killer of women. We are now in unprecedented diabetes rates among our children. 66% of Americans are obese. The buck stops here! You can eat your way to better health and we can show you the way. It’s easy!

June 7 - Who you gonna call? – Stress Busters! - Stress is quite possibly the biggest epidemic of them all. In our fast paced crazy world, it’s almost impossible not to be anxious and stressed about money, job, family, career or how to work your new IPad. We are now more connected technically than ever before but disconnected from our wellbeing, earth and each other than ever before. Learn what foods can calm you down, help you sleep better and bring down inflammation.

Ahhhh, we are feeling very satisfied and grateful.  Our first Food Bliss Workshop Series has ended with a bang.  Our last two classes were full of amazing moments, delicious food and the collaboration of people in search of a vibrant health life.  Let's review:

Heavenly Desserts - the wonders of enjoying dessert without the use of disease causing white sugar, gluten or the use of extreme heat.

We enjoyed Audrey's Mocchiato Cacao Ice Cream with Cookie Dough and Creamy Cacao Sauce, Audrey's Strawberry Almond Mylk Shake with Cashew Creme and Wendell's show stopping Pumpkin Crepe Pancakes with Raw Blueberry Compote and Tofu Creme Anglaise Sauce.
Whew!  Ya.  Sounds good, doesn't it?

Adventures in Protein

What an amazing class!  We had such a great time last week talking about the many protein myths out there.  You certainly don't have to be vegetarian or a raw foodist to get the benefits of whole foods like fresh veggies, fruits, nuts seeds and grains...and if you DO decide not to eat animal products for a day, a week or longer, there are plenty of protein choices for you!

For example, our menu last week took us through some of what we feel are the best plant based protein sources out there:

Kale Salad - full of calcium, protein, vitamins and minerals - and because our salad is totally raw, all the living enzymes are available too!

Mediterranean Kale Salad on it's way to be enjoyed

Then there's Audrey's Sunflower Apple Almond Bread - full of protein and totally gluten-free!

Fresh Sunflower Apple Almond Bread

Chef Wendell wowed the class with his Borracho Beans and Tempeh Sloppy Joes - delicious twists on the original versions that are usually full of animal fat, refined sugars and cooked until all the life is totally gone.  These recipes are so simple and so tasty, our lovely kitchen helpers were nibbling on the left overs at the end of the night!

Borracho Beans and fresh raw bread...mmmmmm

Chef Wendell's Saturday Sloppy Joes on gluten-free bread from Good Earth

Our lovely assistant, Amanda - she eventually came out of her sloppy joe trance...

If you're just getting started on your journey of eating foods that provide health instead of deplete it, we suggest taking a field trip to your nearest health food store and take at the plethora of health items and information just waiting to be discovered.  If you live in Indiana, check out Good Earth in Broad Ripple - one of our favorites!

Next up - Heavenly Desserts this Wednesday!  We're very excited about this SWEET class.  Join us to learn the basics of making delectable desserts that are free of animal products, refined sugars and gluten.  If you have a sweet tooth, you won't want to miss this class!  Call 317-501-7606 to sign up!

Peace, love and raw chocolate,

Feeling the Bliss

We are feeling the bliss, my friends.  Our first three classes have been a blast.  We have made new friends each night and have created a little "kitchen family" that works behind the scenes to make sure our classes go a smooth as coconut butter.  We couldn't provide the high quality Food Bliss Workshops without the help of our amazingly talented assistants.  We are so blessed.

Check out our lovely assistants in action last Wednesday:

Karen's sushi rolling skills up close

Karen, Amanda and Rebecca making Rawlicious Nori Rolls

And we were so flattered and grateful for this special gift from Cindy, one of our class attendees.  She made a scrap book page of her food creations from the recipes we've done in class so far.  What a wonderful gift - thank you so much Cindy!

We're moving right along and very excited for our upcoming class, Adventures in Protein this Wednesday.  We'll be shattering protein myths, awakening taste buds and nourishing souls.  Join us!

Bliss Blessings,
Audrey & Wendell

Great Digestions Rescheduled

We find it a bit funny that our Great Digestions class, which is all about keeping things moving.....has to be held up :)  In order to keep us all safe and free from driving on inches of ice in the dark, we are rescheduling the Feb 2nd class.  While we are a bit bummed, we're happy to announce that it's not being cancelled, just rescheduled.

Please stay tuned for the reschedule date - we are hoping for Wednesday March 2nd.

Safe travels out there and and stay warm!

Detox Mania!

We had a blissful time at our Simple Detox class this past Wednesday.  Our second class of the series was brimming with folks eager to learn about cleansing the body!

We made four delicious recipes:

Audrey's Green Goddess Juice
Thai Veggie Wraps with Special Sauce
Mushroom Pizza
Ayurveda Kichery

We think the mushroom pizza was so much fun to eat and to feast your eyes on as well!  So very simple and soooo yummy!

Here are a few items our lovely class learned:
  • We hear this buzz word all the time, but what are toxins REALLY?
  • What are the top toxin culprits for us today?
  • How can we cleanse our bodies of these toxins?
  • How important is organic when cleansing the body and why?
  • Everybody Poops! (we just like saying that) - how important it is to cleanse your colon and resources to help us get started
  • How important the liver is to cleansing the body and how to support this most important organ
  • Tips on how to lose weight
Pretty cool stuff, eh?  We still have 4 more information-packed classes to go, so if you haven't signed up yet, you still have time to get in on this amazing opportunity to learn all that we can possibly cram in to these 6 classes.  And you can still cash in on the 3-class discount!

So, what's on deck for next week?  Great Digestions, my friend.  That's right, we're talkin more about our digestive system and how to keep it movin and groovin so that you have the energy and vibrant health you want and need to live your best life!

What is the menu you ask?

  • Herbed Almond "Cheeze"
  • Spicy Korean Kimchi
  • Sauteed Greens in Curried Coconut Cream
  • Tomatos Stuffed with Veggie Hash

We will also be sampling some of Hidden Pond Farm's awesome fermented kombucha!  Join us!

Blessings and radiant health,

Audrey & Wendell
